electronic bug repellant

Just moved in to a old hyde park apartment (converted house). Wood floors, great location, but of course its not airtight and has a bug problem. I had a couple days where I could spray and clean before I moved in, and it has been not been an issue... yet. Sometimes find a dead one in the usual places (under the sink, etc). I plan on keeping my food in tubberware containers, and taking the garbage out daily. However, I was thinking of buying some of those electronic bug repeller devices. Supposedly irritate the nervous system of bugs and they leave. It sounds dubious to me, but might be worth it. Anybody had an experience and/or a phd in entymology?

I'm not trying to hijack because I have similar problems. Also, are the propane mosquito "catchers" really effective and worth the $$$?

my mom uses them in the house and we have no bugs to report.

and my dog hasn't gone crazy, yet... so i think it's safe.

I have one.

I should say that I don't have any bugs. None. I only bought the place in August (it is a condo) so I really don't know if there ever were any.

It is totally safe for dogs and cats.

While I don't have any bugs, I live next to a field/creek. This winter around January I had a couple of mice. One would always come up throgh the oven range. Which is right next to the device.

Didn't bother that little sucker one bit.

So for me, the jury is still out.
