I've used Sears a few years ago - they subcontract out the work, but there's also a large name behind the work if something goes south.

MAKE SURE they are licensed. i hired someone (his name was Jonathan Morrison - do NOT sure this guy) who was referred by a co worker and didn't even think to ask. two years later (just this past january) my condo burned down. the cause? the ceiling fan/light (it was a complicated one) that was wired by this "electrician" was wired with speaker wire, which overheated and caugh the wall and ceiling on fire. needless to say, when the insurance company tried to find the guy, he had disappeared - disconnected phone, an empty trailer lot at the address on the business card.

My neighbor is an electrician who does side work. He is licensed and bonded and does good work cheaper than the shops will do it. The work would have to be done on weekends or evenings. Tell him his neighbor David sent ya.
