Edwin Watts Tent Sale

I'm still in the market to buy my first set of golf clubs and was thinking about going to the Edwin Watts tent sale this weekend in Houston. Anyone have any suggestions or experiences with Edwin Watts? Pros or cons, anything I should look for or ask for? Thanks for the help.

how much are you looking to spend? Edwin Watts is going to sale you a $1000 set of irons for $800/900 during their tent sale knowing that new models are likely coming out soon. If you want a high set of clubs then I'd say you'll likely get a good deal. If you want a cheaper set of clubs, I'd go to Golfsmith which is having a Re-Grand Opening sale now and you can get custom clubs for probably $200-400 that you'll be happy with while learning the game and then know better to buy your next set that your willing to pay for.

They might have some cheap sets at Edwin Watts so I'd go look but your likely to be dissappointed price wise.

I've never been to an Edwin Watts (although somehow I get their catalogs - go figure). So I have nothing to offer about the store.

Golfsmith sucks, but that wouldn't stop me from getting a set of custom clubs from them if that's what you're thinking about.

If you're asking about clubs, there's three or four recent threads on this board about clubs.

eBay is always the best deal for golf clubs. To properly do the search, go to Sporting Goods -> Golf -> Iron Sets -> and don't put anything in the search function. Then filter the items by going to NEAREST DISTANCE. Then you can see people in Austin selling them so that you avoid shipping charges and you can actually see them quickly.

Additionally, if you're a beginner and just want a nice beginners set. Academy... YES, ACADEMY... is selling nice Precept EV iron sets for about $150 now. THIS IS REAL CHEAP. they are not bad clubs at all. They are also selling the Wilson Red driver for like $65 which is dirt cheap. NICE taylor made putters that sell on ebay for about $100 are selling for about $50. they also have amazing deals on golf balls. I constantly go to Academy and buy the 4-Piece Wilson True balls for $8. I think they normally retail around $30 or so.

If you're anti eBay and don't like what they have at Academy, then go to Instant Replay. NICE people there.
