Eddie Reese - Longhorn Legend

This is completely unrelated to football but I wanted to bring more attention to Coach Reese - living Longhorn legend. Coach Reese is retiring after winning his 15th National Championship and ... wait for it ... wait for it ... 42nd consecutive conference title!!! He has literally won every single Big 12 championship since the conference began and won 5 out of the last 6 national championships. I cannot imagine what the swimming and diving trophy case looks like but I hope someone on here has the juice to get and share a picture.

Coach Reese is an absolute Longhorn legend and a tribute to the university. He has also led the Longhorns to international prominence by putting dozens of Longhorns in the Olympics and coaching three US Olympic swimming teams.

Put your horns up today for Coach Reese :hookem:

One for each national championship - congratulations Coach and thank you for all you've done for The University of Texas!

Thank you, that was well stated. What Coach Reese accomplished in a ~ 50 year ~ career is truly breathtaking.

I hope LHN brain trust will recognize this and broadcast a 1 or 2 hour tribute program to Reese as he retires!

I saw that last night. Great coach and 15 NC's over his 43 years as HC. Hate to see him go, but at 79 I'm sure he wants to go live a little. Thanks for all the memories Coach...

Supposedly he is also an avid hunter and fisherman. Hating my career choices even more now. I am not in the hall of fame and rarely make a hunt or fishing trip.

I like hunting, but not too big on fishing. Now that I've scaled way back on the number of clients I assist, I plan to get out for more hunting, especially since we have lots of javelina and deer out here.

I swam as a walk on my freshman year, which was coach Reese’s first year. He already seemed like a legend even then, even though I think his best result at Auburn had been second the year before. The Auburn guys had all followed him here, and were ineligible the year I was there, but the pool was full of national record holders, world record holders, etc. Eddie was SO nice to me and helped me and kidded with me just like everyone, even though I was not in the same realm as those guys. He was/is an amazing connector and motivator, just a fabulous man.
