ebay sh question

i bought two 3x5 flags from a dude on ebay. Texas state flag and Come And Get It flag.. s&h for both flags was $3.50 EACH... if it's in the same package, why get charged for both?

today, both flags came in the mail. the s&h price tag on the envelope.....$2.53

i got the flags for dirt cheap. $5 each (about).. which is better than $30+ at the co-op, rooster andrews, etc... my total payment was $14.. so i got a great deal, but the principle of spending $6 for s&h when it only cost him $2.53 is ridiculous.

well get this.....I paid $6 to get priority shipping. The guy tells me he's shipping it on Friday (last Friday). I emailed him on Tuesday asking when the package was supposed to arrive. He emails me back today saying it'll be delivered on Monday. One week and one day is hardly priority shipping. I don't want to give him positive feedback now.

Thats how they tack on a few extra bucks. By charging more than necessary for shipping. Although thats really lame that they wouldn't combine shipping.

Yeah get used to that on ebay. People put their items low and their selling prices low do aviod the ebay's fee's and to get u to buy. Then they jack up shipping like a *****. F'ers

goo --

you are paying for shipping & handling, the price over the actual postage is the handling charge. this includes fees tacked on by ebay, any packing material they seller may have had to purchase, and I guess whatever gas costs are factored to get the item to the post office.

you should have emailed him to get the shipping costs adjusted. otherwise they'll just pocket the money.

that was what I was trying to say. just because he said $6 was for priority shipping, it didn't imply that he was shipping it that day or the next. that simply meant that when he finally got his lazy *** to the post office, he would send it via priority mail.

shipping charges are right there in plain day, so i really don't see how anyone could complain about them.

if you think the shipping is $5 more than it should be, bid $5 less than you want. when i sell things on ebay i ALWAYS make the shipping more than i know it will be. and why shouldn't i? i'm fully disclosing what the shipping charge is, so if you don't want to pay that amount over your bid, either lower your bid or don't bid at all.

and if someone ever emailed me to ask that i refund them the difference in the shipping charge i would probably ask for their phone number so i could call and laugh at them.

however, if you pay for one method of shipping and receive the item by another, i believe you have every right to complain.

A lot of eBay vendors will say that they will combine shipping if you buy more than one thing. If they don't, expect to get charged twice. I bought two pairs of Astros playoffs tickets in the same row last year from someone in two separate auctions. I e-mailed the dude after buying them (buy it now) and asked if he would combine. Didn't get a response, but two days later, got two separate fedex envelopes with a pair of tickets in each. It's a funny story to tell and I was a little pissed, but he didn't wrong me; I agreed to the terms and he did exactly what he agreed to do when I purchased.

you got a couple flags for $14 that would've cost you $30+

why are you complaining? that's how i look at it. plus i have to pay ebay, paypal, and other fees whenever i sell something on ebay.

not so much complaining, but the principle of the matter.

why charge the person twice for s&h when buyer purchases two items from your store that can be shipped in the same package.

don't get me wrong. i got a great deal on two flags.

i bought a watch for .01 and the s&h is $10.. but it's coming from hong kong, so i aint got much to ***** about there.

thats why its called shipping & HANDLING.

it takes time and costs money to package stuff up and take to a post office etc.

Also s&h is not applied to the total cost that the seller's fee is based on. Sell some things on ebay and you will understand.

the ones I dont agree with are the guys that want 20 dollars or more for something that costs a few bucks.

actually, at the bottom of some auctions (especially buy it now ones), you can see something that says "buy more items from this vendor and get cheaper shipping".

somebody hinted at this earlier.

I guess I wasn't complaining so much about the shipping cost as I was complaining that the douche bag told me he was shipping it on one day and obviously didn't ship it until a few days later. I even emailed him before I won the auction to made sure I could get it shipped ASAP because I needed it for a special occasion. That special occasion was a week ago and now I'm just mad.

I bought 180 Atkins bars for $2.35. Course the dude charged me $30.00 for shipping. Still a helluva deal. BTW, I'm still a fatass.

One other thing that the seller has to factor into a sell . . .

The seller has no idea who is going to buy the item -AND- some postage fees are related to distance between buyers/sellers. The seller should factor this possible added expense into the transaction.

Oh yeah . . . I hate when sellers do this.

Ok guys, need your help- the seller who said my item was supposed to arrive today didn't get delivered. The guy said he was shipping it a week and a half ago (priority mail) and it still hasn't gotten here. should I give him a negative feedback?? I hate to do that but damn I won this auction 2 weeks ago and still haven't gotten my item. I even emailed him before I bid on the item to see if I could get it rushed shipped. 2 weeks is not rushed in my opinion.

E-mail him how you feel. Tell him you wanted to give him an opportunity to make this right before you posted any feedback. I've found the feedback refererence to be a very effective carrot in the past.

do not leave him a negative feedback until he has given you a positive one. a lot of times those scumbags will leave you a retaliatory negative feedback just because.

Let me echo what some of you have been saying.

BE CAREFUL ON EBAY.

For such a thing as a popular CD... Prices will range from 1 cent to 14.99.

The thing is. the 14.99 might be free shipping... while the 1 cent may have 15.00 shipping charges.

This practice will continue to be the norm because ebay does NOT charge a percentage of shipping fees.... ONLY THE FINAL BID PRICE.

Look for more and more of this practice as sellers look for ways around the ever increasing ebay fees.
