An auction of mine has ended.

Now I'm getting messages, thru the Ebay "Message" system with offers.

If I come to terms, soley thru the Ebay message system, will I be hit with the (or any) applicable fees? now that the auction has ended.

I would think not. But I'm specifying Paypal, which is linked... I know paypal has their own fee structure, and can live with that.

Anyone done a transaction this way?

The last (and only) time I've tried to sell something on ebay, some asshat from nigeria took over a legit user's account, and won the auction. The entire process of selling something on ebay was filled with scammers left and right. I had offers to buy it for far above my asking price while the auction was ongoing, but they were all scammers.

I ended up not selling it, and am actually hoping to end up better off for it.

In this case, the interested parties (usually 2 or 3) are legit.; it's a matter of low balling.

I have only items of a specialty nature, w/ (mostly) a small group of buyers. I only sell to U.S. addresses, and use only Paypal.

Its just a matter of calculating my possible net amount before negotiating. This didn't occur when the economy was so much better.
