i recently purchased a laptop from a guy in Rhode Island. well, I got the box today, and instead of my computer, it was a Gateway computer screen. If for some reason I got scammed, what do I need to do?

Contact the seller and report to Paypal or whatever credit card you used to dispute the charge if he is scamming you.

Contact the seller FIRST. Don't dispute the charge until you're confident you're not going to hear back from him, or that he's not going to do anything about it.

yeah he wrote me back..said he sent the wrong box to me. we shall see what happens.

My first reaction was "honest mistake." Give him a chance to make it right. If he was really trying to rip you off he wouldn't have sent a monitor. Maybe some dead rats.

What kind of feedback does he have? That will speak volumes to his honesty. If under 15 trans.w/ negatives; or mainly small purchases, then you may be at risk.
