Ebay Dispute / Resolution

So I'm trying to get my money back from some ebay crook. I just filed with ebay, so now I wait.

It's not a lot of money, but enough to want back. Has anyone gone through them to resolve **** like this? Any good ideas for revenge against the seller? Any good Ebay stories?

What was the item, how did you pay and how many postive feedbacks did the seller have?

I was robbed of $50 on an item. It's the only time I've ever been ripped on eBay. I paid through PayPal and everything, but I got nothing back since the bastard just took everyone's money and ran. Son of a *****.

Good luck getting your money back, but things don't look too good unless you purchased the additional guarantee with PayPal.

if you used a credit card to pay thru paypal then u can get a refund thru your credit card co.. i've done it every time someone tried to rip me off thru ebay.

I paid with money order, and I qualify for Ebay's protection deal they have, so I'll get my money back minus a $25 processing fee. Who knows how long it'll take or what kind of a pain in the *** it'll be.

Oh well.

Can you retract a bid on ebay? I placed a bid on something recently and after looking at the profile it's the sellers first item. After reading this post I'm a little concerned

HG,

I went through the Ebay dispute resolution process about 1 1/2 years ago........the whole process (by the time you follow all of the steps that they make you go through, i.e. attempting to resolve the differences through a mediation process) took about 2 1/2 months, but I did finally get my money back, minus the $25 fee.............plus, I got to keep the item.............which I then resold on Ebay, with the CORRECT description.

Good luck to you. It will take time, but you should get your money back (minus that fee)

Infused,

I got an email back from ebay already (fast) and they said I wouldn't have to go through mediation because the other owner can't be reached/is no longer a active user. Hope it goes quick. I want my justice.

What I'd also like to do is find out if they're selling anything else, and continue to be the high bidder and screw with them. It would screw me too eventually, but I only registered with ebay to buy this item.

never pay cash/money order/paypal bank transfer if the guy has a low # of feedback and/or high # of negative feedback. I always pay with credit card and never bid on auctions that are cash/check/moneyorder/paypal bank transfer only.

The person was new, and only had two feedback but both positive.

I wanted to pay with paypal but she wanted cashiers check or money order. She sent me the item, but it was fake, and now I'm getting the runaround on the refund.

Since the transaction, she got a negative and isn't a registered user anymore.

We shall see.

Did you send the check/mo via FedEx, UPS, or USPS? Scammers often avoid the United States Postal Service because they don't want to commit mail fraud and get the feds involved.

Henry - You got the item, but you're still asking Ebay to refund your money? Hmm... What did you buy?

I have been a seller (and sometimes buyer) on Ebay since 1998 and haven't really had much problem with sellers. I have had about 5-7 buyers (out of about 600+) that have screwed ME over. Either they never paid, didn't pay the right amount, or tried to claim their package did not arrive and/or the item was damaged. Buyers are just as bad.

RE: Retracting bids. YES, you can retract your bid. Don't just not pay. That's ********. Even if you leave them positive feedback, that doesn't get them their Ebay fees back.

The rule of thumb is to read the auction carefully BEFORE bidding and check the seller's feedback BEFORE bidding. If you're going to buy something really expensive, I'd only buy from a seller with numer feedback and no less than a 97% positive feedback rating.

I got the item and sent it back because it was fake. If an item is largely misrepresented and the seller disappears without a refund, then you qualify for the protection services.

Hope it works out.

What was the item? What is the seller's name?

I agree with you to an extent, I do. Personally, I would not screw someone over either as a seller or a buyer. However, depending on the circumstance, the buyer has to resume some resposibility, too.

i bought a piece of jewelry on ebay that turned out to be ridiculously fake... i was ******* livid, but sent an email to the seller and she was very kind and sent me all my money back. i also learned a valuable lesson.

have you tried contacting her and telling her you will go through ebay if she doesn't attempt to resolve your problem immediately? that might save you the $25 fee.

Here's the short(ened) story:

Needed an item as a present, was going to buy it on Ebay to save a few bucks. There are several of these around there, but lots of fakes, so I emailed a few people, got a relationship going with one, so I won it. She seemed nice and sweet and said everything they sell is "guaranteed".

I needed it shipped quick, told her so, but after agreeing, completely screwed me and sent it 3 weeks later, giving me ******** excuses. Wouldn't have mattered, but I wanted it for the BD party, and blew it.

Anyhow, I was over it, until I got it, and it was fake. By then, my email was like:

Listen, the item is fake, I took it to people who know. I am going to buy one through someone else, I am sending it back, please send me my money as soon as you can (cash or m.o.). Thanks.

I was very polite about it.

Nothing.

A few days later, I sent another:

Let's make this easy, just send me the money, I won't tell anyone, don't make me get legal and go through ebay.

Nothing.

Yesterday I get an email telling me that she never claimed it wasn't a fake and that if I want any money, I should go through USPS insurance. As appealing as insurance fraud sounds, I told her just to send me the money, I sent back the item.

Haven't heard back.

So yesterday I go to her feedback, and there's a newer negative calling her a "liar and a crook". It didn't exactly give me a good feeling.

So that brings us up to date.

was it a tiffany's piece of jewelry? I was considering buying a tiffany's bracelet off ebay a while back but there were so many fakes on there. I ended up buying a tiffany's gift card for about 20% off the face value.

Henry - I figured it was some kind of purse (like a Prada, Coach, LV, etc.) after you said it was a gift and that you got it and it was fake.

I guess my point was, it's "buyer beware" on places like Ebay and you have to really know what you're doing or at least realize what you might be getting into beforehand. This seller should receive a negative from you and a notice to Ebay. She will eventually be kicked off, though she'll probably come back under another name. They all do.

For now though, I'd just leave the neg, send a notice to Ebay, cut your losses, learn your lesson, and move on. It's not worth the frustration of going through Ebay to maybe get a portion of your money back. She still has her money and Ebay can't take it away from her, so it's not like you're getting her back.

As for the purse you have, either resell it on Ebay or just give it to your girlfriend. If she's in college, she won't care if it's fake. I see a ton of college girls carrying fake LVs, Coach, Kate Spade and other purses.

Mr. Powerbook kid is a moron with waaaay too much time on his hands.

I'm curious to know what happens, because if Mr. Scammer really is a scammer, he still has room to scam this kid. What an idiot.
