I'll be driving from Shreveport back to Dallas this weekend and need some good lunch restaurant suggestions between here and there. I don't mind driving 10 minutes or so off of I-20 for something good.
Reviewer's Comments: As the name implies, this is a tavern located just about midway between Tyler and Kilgore, Texas on Highway 31. The atmosphere is "tavern dark". In fact, when coming into the business out of the sun, it takes about two minutes for your eyes to adjust. The required dance floor and pool table are evident as are the longnecks. The main menu item is ribs. In fact, that constitutes by far the majority of their business. They are served one way, plated with potato salad, Texas toast and pickle spears. The sauce is on the table but don't bother. The price is a bit high at around $10 but the ribs cannot be beat. They are probably the best I have ever eaten. In fact, on the rare occasion that they are out of ribs, politely find another place to eat - nothing else on their menu comes close. If you are in this part of the world you owe it to yourself to try these ribs.
Ratings: I have rated ONLY the ribs and the service. The other areas, sides and etc. are secondary.
