Early line TX - Ohio St TX + 6.5

I think we play better as an underdog a lot of times. TX certainly needs to bring their A game to the Cotton Bowl. :hookem2:

Not a big surprise to see the Bucks favored, based on yesterday's performances. The Horns will certainly have to run the football better than they did yesterday. OSU was firing on all cylinders against Oregon, and their defense was very impressive.

I watched both games yesterday and was expecting to wake up to Ohio St -9 as the early line. Our playoff run ends against these guys unless we play much, much, better on offense.

Footage found of the recap of Ohio St.'s last two games.

Ohio State looks very solid. They're strong in the trenches. I think our D-front generally beats their OL, and (unfortunately) their D-front generally beats our OL--prove me wrong lads!

But it will be a mash-em-up black and blue bruiser of a game. We're every bit as tough and strong in the trenches as the Big 10 teams. Look what we did to Michigan, and how Michigan played Ohio State.

Can we borrow Michigan's DC for the week?

Paid "consultant" of course

Ok, but their pass offense seems top tier.
If we dont rattle their qb so that he has hard time getting the ball to their future pro receivers, especially smith, then they will certainly out score us and our anemic offense.

Sark better have his big boy play-calling pants on cause i dont think we can slow their receivers enuff and their rb is no slouch.

Have they said which conference the officials will be from. If it's from the Island of unwanted teams, we will have an even tougher time.

How about our defense? I don’t give them an A for their performance against asu. They let asu come back from 16 down in the 4th quarter to send the game into overtime. Our O pulled away and the defense couldn’t hold the lead. That’s unacceptable.

I follow the lines rather closely and one of the interesting anomalies is that while OSU is -6.5 vs Texas, the win "probability" currently stands at Texas 51% - OSU 49%

Take that for what its worth but thought it was interesting...

ASU had the ball for 16 more minutes than Texas. That is more than a quarter of the game advantage in posession.

Having an inept offense who couldn't stay on the field more than a minute at a time absolutely wore the defense out. They performed admirably through three quarters, but at some point you have to point the finger the other way.

ASU ran 97 plays. Ninety-seven!! A normal game is 60-70-ish. The D was likely exhausted at the end of that game.

MOTO Moment (master of the obvious):

The TOP ine of the crucial keys to victory against OSU. That means long, time-consuming drives that result in points (TDs preferably, but come away with at least 3 -no missed FGs). No drive killing penalties that put you behind the chains. A run game that includes the QB RPO to keep aggressive Ds honest. No fake punts allowed. Play calling that supports this - don’t get fancy/cute.

Get the D off the field means the O has to do its job, which includes the play calling.

We got this.

As long as OSU doesn’t run trick plays on 4th down or fake punts, Horns should win.
