DVR Tip- Jean-Pierre Melville

This next week, "Army of Shadows", and "Bob Le Flambeur" will be on TCM, or IFC. They were directed by jean-Pierre melville and are terrific films. "Army of Shadows" is about the Fench resistance, and "Bob Le Flambeur" was the ur-heist film, and the inspiration for all heist movies that followed.

A similar film also coming soon is "Doulos", which is supposed to be another great french gangster movie (haven't seen this one yet).

thanks for the tip. i've seen a few movies by other french new wave giants but, for whatever reason, haven't seen melville's stuff. set my dvr to record both.

These three films (Bob Le Flambeur, Los Duolos, and Army of Shadows) are being shown in a block on 7/14 starting at 2pm EST on the Sundance Channel.
