I need to buy a new dvd/vcr combo unit; the guy at Best Buy said I'd either have to buy one with a built-in tuner or have a cable box. The guy at Circuit City said I don't need either one since I'm using Grande Cable. I called Grande Cable and they said the same thing as the Circuit City rep. So, I go back to Best Buy and the guy stands by his original statement. He said the dvd/vcr combo unit without a built-in tuner doesn't even have a connection for cable, hence the need for a cable box.
I'm thoroughly confused. Does this mean that after Feb. 2008 I can no longer record tv programs on my current combo unit, if I decide to keep it? If I buy a new one without a built-in tuner and don't connect it to the cable box (I don't have a cable box), will I be able to record tv programs?
