DVD (standard) question

I have an HDTV ( 65' ) but not a Blu-Ray, just a standard DVD.
When buying / renting a movie, will I be better off getting the full screen version, or the wide screen version - or does it even matter.

widescreen anamorphic. The fullscreen is a "pan and scan". Depending on the movie, you could lose a lot of "information" with the fullscreen version.
