I have a question for anyone that knows about the DVD recorders with Tivo. As a current DirecTV subscriber, if I bought one of these, would I still need a seperate satellite receiver, or would I only use this alone?

Yes, you will need a sat. receiver for the configuration you desire.

Keep in mind that you will be spending $5 for the addtl receiver and $12 for the Tivo service. Another alternative to easy burning is to get a Directv Tivo and a separate DVD burner. The Tivo service for DTV is $5/mth and the extra sat box fee is $5. Also, instead of being able to only record or watch one thing at a time, you will be able to record two shows and watch a previously recorded show on a Direct/Tivo combo box.
