Is there really a big difference between the two? I was told that only certain DVD players play + and only certain play - . Has anyone come across this? I am fixing to go out and buy a bunch of them. I know that mine plays DVD- , but I was just asking if anyone knows what Xbox will play or certain brand DVD players. Thanks for the info.

I believe that newer DVD players will play both. Sounds bad but the only way to be sure is to test your player will both.

Same thing happened to us at work. DVD+RW wouldn't play in a player that was less than a year old. I would go with waldo's advice.

I read an article about a year ago where they tested a ton of DVD players of varying ages. The success rate for DVD+R was something like 95% and I believe the success rate of DVD-R was 99%.

I had to use them for a project. If you have to record something to them, they said DVD- works with Macs & the DVD+ works with PCs.

My five year old Toshiba will play DVD + but will not even recognize the DVD -

Best to buy a small pack of both and test them out on your equipment.

My four year old cheap *** KLH dvd player will play both +R and -R.

I would buy like a 5 pack of each kind and see which one your dvd player or players prefer.

why would you guys buy RW's ?

Go to The Link and look under DVD Players for your model. You should see a lot of user comments on which types of media play with what drives.

I use TDK DVD+R's myself- w/ success on Pioneer, Apex and newer Sony DVD players.
