DVD connected to stereo

OK, right now, I have the satellite line going into the box. From the box, I have the signal going to the TV and the audio to the stereo. So, I can mute the TV and hear stereo or I can just listen to the audio on the TV.

My DVD player is connected to the TV.

With this set up, I don't hear the DVD on the stereo.

I see two solutions:

1) run the audio from the DVD to the stereo. Unfortunately, it is an "either or" to run it to the stereo or TV, as there is only one "out" from the DVD. I don't like this because I don't want every DVD (read: ELMO) blaring through the stereo.

2) Rather than have the sound go out from the box, it could go out from the TV. I've done this before. It is very flexible because you can have sound out of the TV, stereo or both when watching TV or DVD. Downside? My freind says it is lower quality sound. I can't tell the difference.

Thoughts?

If your TV has a master audio out, just run that one to the stereo. You can also get rid of audio going from the box to the stereo, as the TV-to-stereo will carry any audio on the TV to the stereo.

As for quality, don't worry about it.

Thanks - I couldn't tell a quality difference, but I dont have a good ear for that stuff.

Just switched it, thanks
