Dusty Hill passed this morning

ZZ Top is Texas music. I'd send them anywhere in the world to represent us. They are bad-***, bluesy, ballsy and kick ***. Real musicians love them and know they are the real deal. I say they ARE because they will always be alive to me.

I remember hearing La Grange when it was released back in high school. I went straight to the record store and bought Tres Hombres. That picture of the great Mexican plate in the sleeve tells you everything you need to know about their love of Texas and of Mexico.

I loved that picture. No Tex-Mex in DFW, San Antonio, or Austin quite measured up to that sleeve but came pretty close. Now I want enchiladas and tamales.

Saw ZZ Top in Corpus Christi at the Stardust Rollorcade in 1968, when I was 14. They all had short hair and played mostly blues.

RIP Dusty. So sad to learn of this.

Made a point to listen ZZ Top today when I could. Bought their music on 8 track tapes in late 70's before they hit it BIG in the 80's.

ZZ Top are Texas and American rock legends!
