I haven't seen KD play apart from Sportscenter highlights this year. I don't have the NBA package on DirecTV and won't go out of my way to watch any NBA game including the Finals. I do watch the occasional Pacer game if only to root on TJ. But my question is does KD's game still sort of stand alone? I recall threads comparing him to this player or that when he was at UT. names like TMac were thrown around then. The one I always go with is old school, but it would be the Iceman George Gervin. I think Durant is a shade taller, and shoots it deep a tad better, but other wise I can close my eyes and see the two in unison. Both look the same on defense, I can say that with confidence (matador is as matador does). Does anyone else think that comparison holds water? If not Gervin, I still don't think there has been one quite like Durant. He is amazing, especially when you factor in the kid couldn't lift any weight at the predraft camps.

Simmons is dead wrong. He should talk to Cowherd. Durrant can't bench press 185. He must suck.

Simmons only knows pro sports - he's a true Northeastern parochial. He just doesn't care about the college game except as a feeder to the pros.

Still find his columns funny though.

Durrant does not remind me of Gervin. I grew up in SA but was too young to be a big Spurs fan when he played there (I was in elementary school then). But I have since seen tons of clips of Gervin and his son even played at my HS when I was there....

Durrant is a much better shooter than Gervin. Gervin's game was that of a scorer, not a shooter. Durrant can score, shoot, ... do it all.

That Cowherd rant was the stupidest thing I've ever heard. It takes a pretty big ego to be a talk show host and brag about measuring your body fat and being able to curl 185 (which of course is a lie) and then rip Durant who was all of 19 years old at the time for not being strong enough.

I only listen to Cowherd during college football season, and then only because I live in Vegas and am so starved for college football talk that I would listen to five yahoos from Hornfans talk about it if that was all I had.
