dumprep 0 -k ?? computer keeps restarting itself

My computer has been having a problem the last few months of randomly restarting itself. For a while there, it wasn't doing it as much so I forgot about it. But it's coming back, and bad.

It does it at different times. Sometimes my cable modem stops working...starts blinking...then my computer restarts. Other times a popup will come up saying the connection between my computer and my HP printer has failed....computer restarts. I ran a deep scan disk at startup. But every time I try to do a disk cleanup (before and after scan) it restarts itself. It was even restarting itself as I ran Spybot. I had to run Ad-Aware first, then Spybot.

But every time it restarts itself, I run HijackThis, and this shows up in the registry:

[KernalFaultCheck]%systemroot%system32dumprep 0 -k

What the hell is this? I did a google search but couldn't find anything helpful.

What OS are you running? I had a friend's laptop do the same thing...she had an HP printer plugged into it as well as a USB connected cable modem.

I'm on XP.

I did a search after I posted this and ended up downloading Avast! Antivirus. Ran it during the boot and it found 41 files infected with different forms of the Win32 Trojan. I thought I had that one, but could never find it. And my computer refuses to let me run the online scan from Antivirus.com, so I was stuck. Avast! is great.

I also go the newest versions of Ad-Aware SE and HijackThis.

Thanks, y'all. I'll report back if the problem persists.
