Dummies series: anybody have experience?

I just found the dummies series online. I'm trying to pass the Science 4-8 test to teach middle school kids. Took the test with just a prep class last year, no extra studying, almost passed the thing. This year, took the test again, studied, but the studying wasn't focused. I studied a review, bought a couple of textbooks from half-price, probably didn't improve my score, results come out in a few days.

Now I've found the dummies series, read an excerpt, looks great, easy to read.
