Dumb question

So, now that the marathon is over, let's assume Army wins tomorrow (today), which is likely since BC depleted all their pitching. Army would have to beat us twice in order to advance to the supers, correct?

In my opinion, we still are in excellent shape because we only used three pitchers. Jungmann and Workman are fresh. Thomas can come on in relief. So can Carillo. We've hardly used our pen.

My only concern is can the players themselves get enough rest and put this dramatic win behind them and be ready to play their best tomorrow night?

I'm sure they can. They have all day to recoup. Plus, they're 18-22 years old. (Augie said as much in the press conference.) It's not as if they're in their mid 30s.

I think they'll be able to get up for Sunday's game.

Here's another dumb question. Does Wood have any gas left in his tank for the 9th inning tomorrow night?

not many coaches would ever have a pitcher throw 169 pitches period.

skip and augie will be on a lot of **** lists tomorrow morning.

Wood is done until the Super.

The decision to leave him in could go a lot of ways - can he rebound and pitch effectively from here to Omaha? Is this the kind of performance that unites a team and focuses their eye(s) on the prize? Was it a mistake to leave him in?

We won't know until next week probably. I'll be interested in Skip's thoughts and if he relays any of the conversations with Wood during the game and what made them decide to give him his rein.

Wood is a senior and wanted to win it and Augie loves when people step up to be heroes.

It is not like Augie exhausts pitchers. It would be so freaking Typical for people to crap all over Austin Wood's performance which was one of the greatest in NCAA post season history.
