With the Mavs makiung this trade involving Keith Van Horn, who before now had no contract, and was semi retired, it brought up a question. What would prevent them from signing some random scrub off the street to a 1 year deal and including him in the trade to make the numbers work? In essence the Mavs/Nets are paying Van Horn more than $4million to practice for a few days and then sit on his *** because they cant make the trade equal in terms of contract value, right?
I ask this because while 4 million will still be nice for van horn, he most likely isn't hurting for money, 4 million for the average fan or worker would make a huge difference. Cuban could just randomly select a season ticket holder, or member of a Mavs fan club, and hook them up. I think it would make for a kickass promotional idea.
