When I watch the great basketball rivalries I always think of Duke -UNC. The Duke-UNC rivalry is true college basketball at it's best. Both schools are basketball first schools. National seedings and rankings are always involved in this rivalry.
Texas-OU in basketball is another great basketball rivalry. There are some things that are simliar to Duke-UNC (like great basketball by both teams, rankings invloved, seeding invloved and the rivalry is intense), but there are differences. Both Texas and Oklahoma are football first schools. To me, when Texas and OU meet on the basketball court it is extremely physical. To me, it is almost like a carry over from October in Dallas. Some of the hardest fouls that I have ever seen ,in a basketball game, have come when Texas and OU are playing each other. This is not such a bad thing. It is just a different kind of rivalry from the Duke-UNC rivalry. Don't get me wrong Duke and UNC is a very physical matchup, but Texas-OU are extremly physical. Your thoughts?
