Yeah great post and all but you are not emphasizing the glory of your post...DUKE LOST. What a great day this is. Fantastic music so far today, mexican food waiting in front of the table to eat, more music tonight, hot *** at all these music events because it is Austin and the Austin God's say so...and the Horns won their hoops game, their baseball game and Puke lost.
Without a doubt, DUKE is not a #1 IMO. I think the question is, where do they go as a number 2? What is their record in the last 12 games? They have lost at least 3, maybe four games, unimpressive. I think they SHOULD be the last #2, which would put them somewhere other than in their own backyard, but let's see.
Hopefully this loss will make them the 2 seed in the West. Ideally, I want Texas to be in the South. However, being the 2 in the Midwest if Tennessee is the 1 wouldn't be bad either. However, IMHO, the only thing worse for Texas than being the 2 in the West with UCLA would be being the 2 in the East with UNC as the 1.
I think if Texas wins tomorrow, the worst case will be #2 in the Midwest vs. Tennessee. I can't see a B12-Champion, top 4 RPI Texas being one of the bottom 2 #2 seeds (which is the message we'd get being sent West or East). If we lose tomorrow, though, we've got no room to complain (unless they drop us all the way to a 3).
I suspect that the committee will have either a pair of #2 slots, or a #1 & a #2 (depending on the UCLA/Tenn outcomes), and will place the winner of UT/KU in the more favorable spot.
but beat kansas tomorrow and its almost impossible to say we arent a 1.
I agree with your thoughts but i disagree.. I feel the brackets are already set and a game just an hour or two before the selection has no baring...
beat KU and we better be a one, i do always feel the committee makes up its mind before our game though, but we move to Wed-Sat format next year, bottom line we cant be worse that a 2 seed in the south if we win
Seriously, are you suggesting that the only reason we have no shot at a #1 seed is because of the time of the game? That a team that wins both the regular season and tournament championship of the #1 RPI conference in the country, going 4-1 against top 10 teams and with a top 4 RPI, has no chance at a #1 seed because of when the game is played??? That's ludicrous
I agree with you totally but this is all i heard on Espn Radio yesterday..
I have to admit that my hatred of Duke (other than a personal reason) is out of respect and envy for what Coach K has done and often does. They appear clean and clear too. This is quite different than my hatred of Notre Dame in football where it is not envy as they are paper tigers and not worthy of any respect in quite sometime. Duke produces and does not go by long lost reputation.
