Dual Tuner PIP

I am looking at HDTV's and was wondering what was the difference between dual tuner and single tuner PIPs. What are the advantages/disadvantages?

go with the dual tuner, have you ever wondered why your friends with a cable/satelite box with PIP aren't watching it?

I've always wondered about this. If your TV has a dual tuner PIP, do most satellite receivers have dual tuners so that you can watch 2 different satellite channels at the same time or is it only 1 satellite channel and 1 over the air show?

Does anyone really use PIP? I've had it for 8 years, and I've only used it maybe twice. I'm never going to worry about it as an option again.

on a side note, I don't see the need to buy a TV with PIP since cable providers (TimeWarner) offer PIP with their DVRs. Every TV can display PIP with it. Can't be long until the satellites offer it as well. Seems like a waste to spend too much extra on a dual tuner PIP when its offered "free" from your cable provider.

Thanks for all the responses. I seriously doubt my TV could handle PIP. The TV has to have PIP capabilities in itself, mine is a POS.

That is a good question about the satellites, would I get HDTV in both screens of the PIP or do I need something extra? I would use the split screen over the PIP but I do like to watch several football games at once on Saturdays and Sundays in the fall so that is where I see the benefit. I couldn't see another use for it though.

Oh and Dual Tuner in itself is not a lot more money at all.

DISH 522 DVR has built in dual tuner PIP cabailites. It can work on any tv, old or new.

Its the receiver doing the work not the tube.
