Tyrell Chavis ..... Nassau Community College (Garden City, NY)
3-star ..... DT ..... 6-4/320

Chavis is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 16 JUCO defensive tackle in the country.

Per Scout:
Tyrell Chavis is an experienced DT who brings a well-rounded set of skills to the position, and as a result he has been offered by a wide array of college programs. He could play in an odd or even front. He has a good get off and when playing spirited he is hard to contain. He has good closing speed and open field running skills, which show through on tape as he chases down ball carriers. He is strong and is able to get off blocks. He'll need to play consistently lower.

Strengths: disengaging skills, explosion, and quickness off the ball.

Per BON:
The listed weight of Chavis at 320 on his 247Sports profile may be a little bit high, as he looks much more lean in his mid-season film above, even playing outside some as a five-technique in odd fronts. And based on the quickness he shows on film, the low three-star rating for him doesn't give his athleticism enough credit -- the kid can move.

Chavis also isn't as raw as some other prospects on the Texas radar, as one would expect from someone now in his fourth year out of high school, as he understands how to use his hands and can play with good leverage.
