Jordan Elliott ..... Westside (Houston, TX)
:hookem::hookem::hookem::hookem:-horn ..... DT ..... 6-4/305 ..... Baylor Houston Michigan TEXAS

Per Scout:
Athletic enough to play defensive end and powerful enough to play inside and take on the double team as a defensive tackle. Very smooth and plays with a low center of gravity making it tough for offensive linemen to outposition him. Could be scheme versatile in college and play in many defenses, and that is why offers poured in for him.

Per IT:
At 6-foot-4, 305 pounds, he cuts violently off one foot to pick up a fumble. It’s the type of movement you don’t see from someone his size. Like [Du’Vonta] Lampkin, Elliott plays defensive end in high school where he actually shows the ability to run the arc at his size! He evidences intelligent play versus the run — reading his keys and not carelessly biting on inside play-fakes.

Jr Season

Sr Season (1st six games)

247Sports and SB Nation reporting that Elliott has decommitted from Baylor. 247Sports still has him as a 75% Texas lean and puts him as the No. 33 player in America, the No. 8 defensive tackle and the No. 6 player in Texas.

Good grief we've had no commitments recently so......I'm committing! 5'9, 160lbs, 55 years old....might have some eligibility left....don't ask about my measureables...... I bleed orange......ain't got no stars!!! :)

Scuttlebutt the last few weeks has been that Elliot is trending UT. He attended UTL and made positive comments. No one is saying he's ours to lose, just that he's showing love to Texas more than any other school.

Shirt.

Elliot tripped back to ATX this past weekend with his mother in tow.
So?
So, Charlie Strong never met a mom he didn't love. And most moms reciprocate.

Per HD:
Elliott kept this visit quiet but let the world know about it when he tweeted the above picture. Remember, he was just in Austin on July 18 for Texas' "Under The Lights" camp where he wore a Longhorns shirt and appeared to be having a good time with fellow campers and Texas' staff.

Charlie Strong and Co. have made Elliott aware of just how much they need someone like him considering the one DT they signed in 2015 - Du'Vonta Lampkin - won't attend Texas... He's a high-priority recruit for Strong, Vance Bedford, Brick Haley and the rest of the staff, no doubt about it.

It's not a matter of "if" he'll be in Austin again now, but "when." And, will that next visit move him closer toward committing to UT? Only time will tell.

Don't worry about the stars.....you'll get 'em after the first hit. :smokin:

The positive vibe following UT's big win over Oklahoma has continued this week. At first I thought it was negative that the team couldn't get right back on the field this Saturday to build on the momentum, but the staff hit the road this week looking to yield positives with appearances. Let's rock.

JORDAN ELLIOTT

The Houston Westside native and 4-star defensive lineman de-committed from Houston a month ago, and has laid relatively low during the first two months of the season. He's visited Austin a few times, catching a couple games while hanging out with a few of the other prospects and freshmen.

"Oh yeah, it was a great game," said Elliott, after UT's 24-17 win over the Sooners. "Texas competed and ended up playing their best game and were the better team. It was exactly what I wanted/needed to see."

On what whether he buys into what Strong has been saying/preaching about the direction and culture of the program: "I bought into that when we talked for the first time in his office back in the summer at UTL."

"Junior Hassan Ridgeway has grown into a similar role, but the signing of Malcom Brown in 2012 marked the last time that Texas landed an elite defensive tackle. Since then, the Longhorns have missed completely at the position in 2013 and 2015, signing only two pure defensive tackles in 2014. Defensive end signee Jake McMillon grew into the position, but hasn't yet made an impact through nearly two seasons on campus.

With the miss on Elliott, the Longhorns are unlikely to secure the signature of any high-impact defensive tackles in the state of Texas despite a historically strong class unless Strong and his staff can surge with Duncanville's Marcel Southall, whose recruitment has been a bit of a mystery. He's expected to take an official visit to Texas at some point.

The Longhorns have a massive and glaring need for defensive tacles that can consistently destroy opposing blocking schemes. Right now, Strong and his staff aren't landing them and that's a problem as massive as the need for those players."

E.J. Holland says that the fallback plan after Jordan Elliott at DT might be Darius Anderson (the DT from Hightower)

He also thinks Strong could make some late offers in Florida.
