DSL on Fiberoptic network

An un-named ISP (Bellsouth) laid down fiberoptic lines in our neighborhood. Does anyone else have the dsl connection on a fiberoptic set up? What a pile of ****.

I noticed that every time the temp outside changed or it rains, I lose my service. I finally got a line tech on one of their many visits to my house to admit that the wires are so small that the least little bit of contraction in the wire makes it lose it's connection. (Sir, we normally charge you $80 for a tech visit. **** Me said I. I will pay that once you get it installed correctly) I have been around and around with this un-named company (Bellsouth).

I told them today to take me off of the fiberoptic stuff and just set me up on a regular 'broadband' connection. Nope. Can't do it because "you sir, have the better cabling in the fiberoptics". My response was, "Better? **** Me! What is better about never having a connection?" I actually set a record. My conversations went from tech to billing to sales to tech to sales to tech to a higher level of tech. I finally told them, "Get me to someone who can cancel my service". **** Bellsouth and **** Fiberoptics.

Thank you. I will be leaving now as I hear my bartender calling me.

I got another un-named (bellsouth) line tech to come back to the house. Apparently, the jackass that came before 1) re-stripped the wires on the wrong house and 2) restripped the wrong wires. That, my friends, is MAJOR incompetence.

Sounds like it is time to escalate to a 2nd or 3rd level manager to make them make it right. You can get out of your contract if they are not providing you reliable service. Do you have a cable modem option, or another carrier in the area? (verizon, etc?)

I wish Verizon offered service here. Earthlink/Mindspring is headquartered here but their customer service has gone to hell. I am switching to cable if this latest fix doesn't work.
