Drunks in the stands

Since DKR started selling alcohol at the games, there seems to be way too many drunks getting belligerent and socially unacceptable.
I drink beer and have a good time so I am not a goody two shoes, but blind drunk idiots that continue to drink past their limit seem to be ruining the day for some folks. One section over from us had an incident where long time season ticket holders had objects thrown on them by drunks above them. Anybody else see problems around their area with drunks?

This was going on before they started selling alcohol. I haven't noticed an increase, but logic would suggest an increase.

I agree it was going on before, but it just seems to have increased and wondered about other areas of the stadium.

Ivan,

Congratulations! You are the Grand Prize winner! You have won a ticket to Saturday/s game to sit with Patrick Mahomes, the oneth, to share in adult beverages, and watch his son get pounded by our defense. Handcuffs are optional.

Oh my, I believe I would rather listen to Boomer Sooner one hundred times in a row than sit next to Patrick Mahomes the oneth at the Tech game in Lubbock. Also, my apologies L.C. :smile1:

We sat in the upper deck on the East side roasting in the sun Sat.

I observed / heard no drunks until I snuck over the West side stands to grab shade for the second half of the game. We heard a few obvious drunks in the area but nothing over the top. I'm always pleased I don't have to hear drunks yell and curse Akers or McWilliams anymore.

I have sat in various sections of DKR over the years and it seems there are always a few, but I agree with the OP the numbers have probably increased due to adult beverages being sold on the premises.

No problems here. Saw some Baylor folks getting bombed on ice tea. They weren't drunk though, just stupid.

I remember bottles in both boots back in my college days and was plenty drunk before halftime during some of the dark McWilliams days well before there was beer sales. That being said there was a fan in my section who had more than his share of social sparklers during the Baylor game that went on a cussing rant calling me every name in the book because I thought it was clear on the replay that Terence Williams scored on the 2 yd run in the 3rd. In my younger days we would have both been escorted out in cuffs but age and wisdom taught me to turn the other cheek and ignore his liquid courage. All the fans around us were bewildered at how belligerent he was and surprised the F-bomb's he was throwing at me- the biggest Horn homer in our section. Wish I had his email to show him the reply and prove that I was right. :catfight:

The long term season ticket holders around us are behaving about the same as they always have. Some have matured and are calmer :) We moved around a bit for 10 years, but since 1990 have had the same tickets in Section 7. We have one ticket behind us that has become a major problem. The single ticket has been bought by a succession of 30-35 males attending by themselves who have passed out, thrown up on the person in front of them, been verbally obnoxious to long time season ticket holders around them, etc etc.

I conveyed my opposition to that Patterson decision, but it seems to be a Genie and the bottle deal now ... so ... here comes more distractions and even risk to personal injury. What a stupid stupid decision.

Someone mentioned there will be new security restrictions next season ... but at least we'll be able to booze it up!

Seems like we went through all of this about 15 years ago. The more things change ...
