My buddy's a photographer (and therefore sober, as opposed to me), and drives back every year; sometimes I ride back with him, sometimes I fly back. It's not bad at all...
His usual route is to take 45 south to Corsicana, then take whatever road it is that goes to Waco and pick up 35 there. I thought he was full of **** about that being quicker than just getting on 35, but you more than make up the 20 extra miles by getting out of the stadium area and out of Dallas quicker.
He takes Metropolitan (runs parallel to Fitzhugh about three blocks south from the southernmost part of the Fairgrounds) straight to 45, traffic isn't bad at all even right after the game (as opposed to MLK, Haskell, etc)...
A friend of mine wants to play golf in the morning and we'd be done around noon. There is a DART blue station near the course. I heard about the DART nightmare last year. Does anyone know if anything is being done to improve it this year, and would I be okay riding the blue line in from the south to the game or would I be better off finding a place to park in the neighborhood and walking at that point (I;m kind of figuring that I would have to park kind of far away by that time)?
I cut through downtown and made it to Austin on I-35 in about 3.5 hours or less. However, that was after a Texas win (in 1998) so I'm sure most of folks from Austin stayed back to party making I-35 more bearable.
