Drivers License renewal office?

There was a location off of the frontage road of 183 past Anderson Mill Rd if you are going south on 183. Other than that one, there's one off North Lamar. You can also renew online, depending on the circumstance.

sometimes you have to renew in person to perform the visual test for them. I had to do it last month. The notice for renewal said I had to show up in person, and I even tried to renew online, but no luck. I then went to the DMV on 15th/Congress and next thing I know, I'm looking into the eyesight tester wondering if I'm gonna pass! I did. I turned 40, so that may have had something to do with it.

If you don't mind a little drive go to the one in GT. The drive is worth the 5 minutes max you spend in line

The one mentioned above, at 15th and Congress, is the best. There is always parking and I have never waited behind more than one person. I have gone there the last three renewals and have taken both of my kids there, for their original licenses and subsequent renewals. It was originally opened for state employees and wasn't even listed in the phone book or DPS printouts. Way less stressful than the hour or so waits I remember at North Lamar.

Don't even think of going to the one on Lamar. You will need a tent, sleeping bag, camping stove, several days worth of food, and your car will be repeatedly bashed in the parking lot by recently naturalized Americans who are proud of the D- they got in their driving class, not having ever seen a motorized vehicle in Outer Mongolia or whevever they lived until the last few weeks.

I use the 15th and Congress location, as well. Great experience.

You know, in a funny kind of way, I'm looking forward to my license expiring in September.

Great timing. Thanks guys. Wife and I both had to renew in person but hers was due last month and mine this month. She went to Lamar, came home after 30 minutes and went the next morning at 7:45 and still had to wait 30 minutes. I will go to the downtown location next week and tell her all about it.

Everyone should go to the Lamar location at least once, just for the experience. It will calibrate your misery index. When you leave (assuming you passed or whatever) you will feel like you just got released from prison.
