Drink Specials and Happy Hours

I just turned 21 this summer and was hoping for some tips on where the best places to go during the week were for drinks. I go to Crown & Anchor a lot with friends during the week for drinks, but I was hoping for some other suggestions from everyone.

What are your favorite spots for drinks (while on a student budget)?

Double Dave's on Duval used to have cheap beer on Thursday nights. I'm not sure if they still do. You should pick up a copy of Study Breaks. They used to list every drink special in town.

Monday: Crown, 1.50 pints
Thursday: DD's on Duval, $3 big *** beers, or $1.50 for little ones.

I use to know more, but they've changed so much. Cheers use to have dollar wells till 11, but now they don't and suck. I would really like to see a comprehensive, up to date list somewhere.

Wednesday night at The Library-$1 beer and $1 wells

If you are looking for a great place to go that is near campus, just walk over to Showdown. Happy hour is earlier in the night, but after that pitchers are still about $7 for domestics, and they are the big glass ones (4 full pints, not those little plastic ones). Two dartboards, two foosball tables, two Golden Tees, three pool tables, and a great jukebox.

Showdown has been my favorite place in the campus area since I found it about 3 years ago.

Don't miss Happy Minutes from 3-3:15 each afternoon at Showdown. 75 cent pints.

There was many a day when I'd be drinking at Hole in the Wall (RIP), go down to Showdown for Happy Minutes, then resume at Hole without ever closing the tab. They never seemed to notice.

The Skaggs Alpha Beta at El Chino at happy hour was a certified liquid panty remover in its day.

And, yes, they have a huge selection.

The Texas Union for 2.75 pitchers of Shiner Bock..Oh yeah, that was twenty years ago. Sucks to corporatize the campus.

The Daquari Factory use to have $1 Dos XX on Tuesday nights. I would always go there and meet up with a few a the Hooters girls from the Riverside location. Happy Hour in DC is $3 pints of house beer. I really need a Mexican Martini!!

Best food happy hour- Z-Tejas half priced appetizers, Ahi tuna, fish tacos ets for rought $4 or less.

Huts has 2-1 chicken sandwiches on thursday nights, or is it wednesday? Only catch have to order the same sandwich.

BEST HAPPY HOUR ANYWHERE YOU GO!!!!! Just go in to your bar of choice in the very early evening or before 5 if it's a happy hour place, order a few drinks, introduce yourself to the bartender and tip the living hell out of them.

Tip like $10 on a $12 tab. Then make sure you come back within two days so they do not forget who you are, tip well again and after that it's doubles for singles until the end of time.....

Antonio's at 35 & 183 has some HH specials on their strong *** margaritas. Their appetizers are half price (I think) during HH. The Mexican Egg Rolls are awesome.

I always liked Nasty's on Monday night. Don't remember the drink specials, but I loved the music!
