I went to this on the assumption that anything Owen Wilson was in had to be at least mildly amusing. The guy cracks me up.

But this thing was just terrible---like a Will Farrell movie, if one can be that bad without him in it.

The shame is that with a little work it could have been pretty decent. How much does it cost to hire a writer with an idea or two. The people who made it have made some decent comedies, so how did they not realize this script didn't work?

all they have to do is say "From the guys who brought you Knocked Up and Superbad!" and people will flock like sheep

I've played soccer with the director... he's not that good.

But one thing might have been, that Judd Apatow knew that the script was weak, so he gave it to his buddy to direct instead of doing it himself. (But that doesn't explain why he would toss his wife into the movie as well.) And Brill (the director) is obviously a friend, because he actually had the tiniest of cameos as the fat slob's boss in "Knocked Up", when the fat slob decided to finally get a cubicle job.

The ads made "Drillbit Talor" seem like a watered down "You, Me, and Dupree" and I thought that that movie was pretty watered down. Very PG, not even PG-13.

All the same, I always pull for Owen's movies to do well. Here in Buenos Aires "Viaje A Darjeeling" just opened this past 20 de Marzo - Sólo En Cines.
