If you're the type who at least occasionally remembers dreams in some amount of detail - tell about a dream you had and whether or not you think it had anything to do with your actual life or thoughts or whatever. Basically, I'm curious how many dreams vivid enough to remember are definitely connected with things in our life and how many seem to come out of nowhere with no identifiable reason.
Plus, it's pretty funny to hear the bizarre stuff that happens in our dreams.
Here's my recent dream:
It began with my wife and I sitting in a class that was some sort of "understanding each other better" seminar. I'm not married in real life and it wasn't any particular person I actually know who my dream had married me to. The guy was explaining that women like to be surprised more than men do, and that's why no matter who is more fearless, the man's valuing of certainty means he'll come across as more afraid when something sudden is about to happen - even if he knows it's coming but doesn't know exactly when.
And then the next day we were both going water skiing. The speedboats were revving up and I was really worried that it would suddenly take off without warning and jerk the rope out of my hands, while my wife was really pumped and started telling me that my worrying was proof that the "women like to be surprised" theory was right. Then all of a sudden I realized that instead of wearing our swimsuits and life jackets (which we had been wearing just a second before), we were both naked - still out there behind our respective speed boats ready to water ski. I got really embarrassed that I was naked out in public, but she just stood there proudly and proclaimed that she was making the other women jealous.
And then I woke up.
The theory on women liking to be excited more is really odd - I don't ever recall hearing such a theory or thinking over anything of the sort. So somehow my dream managed to make up it's own theory apparently out of nowhere! Not sure where the water skiing came from either.
And while finding myself naked all of a sudden does seem to happen in my dreams a lot, usually nobody around me in the dream notices anyway. This part, unlike the surprise/fear theory, actually makes sense, because men looking way worse naked than women has been a topic of discussion I've engaged in a couple of times recently. So I can see how my brain dragged this out of the subconscious.
