Dreams you've had recently

If you're the type who at least occasionally remembers dreams in some amount of detail - tell about a dream you had and whether or not you think it had anything to do with your actual life or thoughts or whatever. Basically, I'm curious how many dreams vivid enough to remember are definitely connected with things in our life and how many seem to come out of nowhere with no identifiable reason.

Plus, it's pretty funny to hear the bizarre stuff that happens in our dreams.

Here's my recent dream:

It began with my wife and I sitting in a class that was some sort of "understanding each other better" seminar. I'm not married in real life and it wasn't any particular person I actually know who my dream had married me to. The guy was explaining that women like to be surprised more than men do, and that's why no matter who is more fearless, the man's valuing of certainty means he'll come across as more afraid when something sudden is about to happen - even if he knows it's coming but doesn't know exactly when.

And then the next day we were both going water skiing. The speedboats were revving up and I was really worried that it would suddenly take off without warning and jerk the rope out of my hands, while my wife was really pumped and started telling me that my worrying was proof that the "women like to be surprised" theory was right. Then all of a sudden I realized that instead of wearing our swimsuits and life jackets (which we had been wearing just a second before), we were both naked - still out there behind our respective speed boats ready to water ski. I got really embarrassed that I was naked out in public, but she just stood there proudly and proclaimed that she was making the other women jealous.

And then I woke up.

The theory on women liking to be excited more is really odd - I don't ever recall hearing such a theory or thinking over anything of the sort. So somehow my dream managed to make up it's own theory apparently out of nowhere! Not sure where the water skiing came from either.

And while finding myself naked all of a sudden does seem to happen in my dreams a lot, usually nobody around me in the dream notices anyway. This part, unlike the surprise/fear theory, actually makes sense, because men looking way worse naked than women has been a topic of discussion I've engaged in a couple of times recently. So I can see how my brain dragged this out of the subconscious.

had a dream sunday night where i kept getting hit with needles. they would lodge in me and i would have to pull them out. very odd and i woke up wondering what the hell it meant. i just googled some dream interpreter monday morning and it said something about "worrying about the small things"...

Two nights ago I dreamed that I was a ghost, and I gave a lecture to a bunch of regular people on how to sue ghosts and make claims against ghosts.

Involved 6 chickens lined up close to a fence. They all had casts on their right legs. Apparently they were competing to find out which among them was the mother of a chick in front and to the right up against a house. The 6 chickens were let loose and walked up to the side of the house. I noticed next to the chickens were 6 or so sparrows agitating in the grass and dirt. One chicken, offended, violently pecked and picked up a sparrow and let it fall to the ground. I was concerned the unmoving sparrow was dead, but soon it began preening itself. Another near by sparrow was pecked at on the back of its neck and a feather flew but the sparrow remained on the ground and seemed to think this hostile act was actually an attempt at preening. The second sparrow looked nonplussed and closed its eyes as as if in enjoyment.

I have zero trace back on this one. I certainly have felt like the sparrow at work before.

I don't remember many dreams, but I do remember this one from years ago. I was "driving" alone down I-35 but I was sitting in the backseat of my car and no matter how hard I tried I could not reach the steering wheel. I took it to mean that I felt like my life was out of control, which was probably true at the time.

I had a dream that my investments had dwindled down to nearly nothing and that I might have to start working for real again. I woke up and realized it wasn't a dream.

I had a dream that both Jennifer Aniston and Drew Barrymore were vying for my affection. I don't remember the context though. I do remember thinking how tough it was going to be to have to hurt one of them. Then I realized that I must be dreaming because neither one would ever have anything to do with a regular guy like me and I woke up.

i remember my dreams all the time, usually very detailed. but it seems like once i tell them (usually to my wife) i seem to forget most of it.

i used to have a recurring dream. i had it every few months for many years. i was young. my dad and i were in the garage of our old house. we were getting in the car. out of no where, some guy ran up from the alley (in the house my parents currently live in) and leveled my dad. almost every time, he would go flying into the wall or the door to the house. he was usually pretty hurt, but wasn't dead or anything. i found myself in my parents garage one day and started looking around. sure enough, my dad has a rifle in this closet. i had the dream again. nothing changed. i really thought about it the next day. 3 weeks later, i had the dream again. when the guy came charging, i reached over, grabbed the rifle, and shot him before he got to my dad. this was 3 or 4 yrs ago. i haven't had the dream since.

I rarely remember any dreams. When I do, they don't seem to make any sense. One from a few years ago, I remember particulary vividly for some reason.

I'm in a huge, never-ending wheat field right at sunset. Winds are strong and seem to be coming from every direction and getting stronger. For some reason, there is a huge gothic bell tower in the middle of the field, and for some reason, I have to run into it as fast as I can. Once I do, I have to run up the spiral stairs as fast as possible and ring the bell at the top.
I ring the bell, and immediately, a ton of friars materialize on the stairs (or whatever those priests were that wore huge burlap sack-robes). They have the hoods up and their robes are too baggy to see their hands or feet, so they look like they could be suspended by ghosts. And maybe they ARE!! I freak out and run down the stairs past them as fast as I can. As I pass them, they reach out to me (no hands) and ask me "Where are the menus?" I was working in a restaurant at the time.
I get outside and into the wheat field again, only there's no wind and it's midday and sunny out. I'm confused, so I look around, and the bell tower behind me has dissappeared. Instead, there are two Zack Padrons (a friend of mine in band), they both have a sousaphone on, and they're finishing up some joke about Bob Dole and a hot dog stand. I didn't hear any of the joke other than the punch line: "Hey, you're Bob Dole! You can't eat at this hot dog stand!"

I'm still trying to figure out a joke that would have that punch line.

Anybody have recurring dreams?

I've had one about 10 times in the last 5-6 years in which I am driving around Austin with Benjamin Franklin in my pickup truck. The dreams are always a little bit different but the setup is always the same. They are always quite elaborate and quite detailed.

HE, i have recurring dreams all the time. the one i described earlier has since stopped, but i have one where i'm outside a house (that i'm sure i've seen in a movie) talking with a group of people in a flower bed. in another one, i'm in a jail like place, but i can enter and leave (it's not easy). i usually leave and have to hurry back in time.

this last one i've had since i was like 8. i wake up, my room is massive. when i was little it was the size of a gymnasium. now it's the size of like American Airlines Arena or something like that. there are 2 massive stones in the room. i have to keep them from touching. sometimes, even now, my old fish tank that i had in my room when i was young in there. most of the time it's just my bed.

I dreamed that I was at the Continental Club on a crowded night and there was a band playing. I was trying to make my way through the crowd from up by the stage to get back toward the bar. I passed a guy on my left and noticed the shirt he was wearing and thought to myself, "Wow, I have that exact shirt at home!" Then I turned my head back toward the bar and there was a different guy wearing a different shirt that was also exactly like one I owned.

As I scanned the room, I realized that every single person in the bar (male and female) was wearing clothing that was identical to what I had back at home.... or maybe they were wearing my actual clothes...

And this comes from a guy who expends very, very few brain cells thinking about fashion or clothing.

I once invested a lot of money in Chinese gold when some door to door salesman convinced me that I would quadruple my investment in a month. Thankfully I woke up and it was only a dream!
