And what will the effect be on Damion James?

In the last couple of days, Henderson, Curry, Lawson, and Ellington have all announced.

Damion James = Kenyon Martin
both can jump out of the gym, similar defense skills, both can't dribble, both have simialr shooting range.
DJ not #1 pick....K-Mart overrated a #1 pick

Kenyon Martin in college was no where near the shooter Damion James is(was). However, Martin was a much better defender and had more of a post game while also being a bit taller than James.

I wouldn't put Damion in the same category as Kenyon Martin as far as leaping goes. Not only can K-Mart dunk over guys with authority better, but he's got a power post game that's largely based on being able to jump himself into a close range shot that can't be blocked.

There usually are at least twice as many college players in the draft as there are available spots.

With no predraft camp, this is not going to be the benefit that it has been to those who are looking toward returning to school.

Well Kenyon Martin is 6'9". I'd say Damion is closer to 6'6" than 6'7".

And Kenyon has had knee problems, but before that he was a hell of a defender/rebounder. Damion isn't nearly as tenacious or athletic.

Damion needs a mean streak to overcome his lack of size in the NBA. A tweener that isn't big enough to play the three or four and not good enough of a ball handler or shooter to play the two is going to have a lot of trouble getting PT on an NBA roster.

I don't know if I'm willing to concede that Martin is much more athletic than James, but those extra 2+ inches make an ENORMOUS difference.

There are undersized pf types in the NBA who have been quite effective, though they are rare. Think of Rodman, for example. While not anywhere near the level of Rodman, Chuck Hayes might have been an effective undersized pf, had he been able to make a free throw.

Of course, FT shooting isn't James's strong suit. Then again, Rodman hit only 58% for his career.

There is room in the NBA for a guy who knows how to get position for rebounds and is willing to work non-stop in the game on just that one thing.

I don't know which Damion James you're talking about, but he's been the most tenacious rebounder on the team since the day he stepped on the court, and one of the most effort-giving players in the nation for three years now. Guy is a WARRIOR.

That being said, the comparison between Kenyon and him is non-existent.
