Downtown Houston Restauants

i like the morton's downtown location, brennans is always good, damians has great italian, irma's for mexican or ninfa's on navigation isnt far

i hear the strip house is pretty good but i havent been there yet, as a plus there are naked paintings of women on the walls..

If you want something actually IN downtown, I suggest Mia Luna on Main and Prairie? (I know it's on Main, not sure about the cross street.

It is small, sort of funky, and serves creative Italian with an excellent wine list.

The Bank Restaurant in the Hotel Icon is much more swanky, and really has some unusual concoctions.

BANK and strip house are the best

if you want something a little more low key or low price, mia bella is good. if indian food is your thing, yatra is good.

i'd do strip house.

Oops....I meant Mia Bella..........Mi Luna is its "sister" tappas place in Rice Village.

Always get their names confused.

I went to VIN a week or so ago for the first time. Wasn't all that impressed. I'd agree with Striphouse or Bank if you want to be truly "downtown". If you want just a minute or two oustide the boundries of downtown, I'd do Gravitas on Taft, Monarch at Hotel ZaZa, or Catalan on Washington.

The chef left Bank I would avoid now.

For me the Strip House is hard to beat. 16oz NY Strip, bordelaise, goose fat potatoes and I am oh so happy.

Cava Bistro on Main and Congress is very good. Its another of Mia Bella's sister restaurants. Ibiza is great, although just outside of downtown. Strip House is good too.

Strip House and Vic and Anthony's are my favorites downtown, but that's because I love steakhouses. The bar at Strip House is better, if I remember correctly. I have heard only good things about Ibiza as well.
I tried Reef - nice seafood place. I wasn't blown away- there were a couple menu items they ran out of which were my #1 and #2 choice though, so that may have been part of it. Everyone else I was with loved their meal- excellent salmon dish and a really good surf and turf.

Vic & A's is > Strip house, IMO.

Ibiza is really good. Reef, also in midtown, is supposedly great gulf coast cooking, but I haven't been and it isn't technically downtown.

Strip House is very good. I worked across the street from it this summer, it is expensive though so I only had lunch there once.
