downloading iPhone apps

Just bought an iPhone and went to purchase my first app and nothing.... I figured that the app would show up as an icon on my :main Page". What am I doing wrong?

Not trying to hijack this thread, but I would rather not start another iPhone thread.

Does anyone know how to download/transfer iPhone Contacts to MS Outlook Contacts?

You go to the app store, click on the price, click on install, enter your itunes password, and then you should see it install.

Try it out with some free apps first.

Try "Remote", "Urbanspoon", or "Sportacular". Those are good free apps, you can practice downloading and playing with before you actually purchase one.

The app may be on a second screen if your main screen is full. You may need to drag across the main screen to find the second screen.

I checked on my 2nd page and it isn't there. Also, I had my iphone plugged in to my computer when i purchased it on itunes.

Have you synced your phone since buying the app? I'm not sure if the purchase initiates a sync or not...try plugging it back in to be sure.

I had most of the same contacts listed in my Blackberry. I installed the blackberry software on my laptop and then transferred them to outlook and then my iPhone. I was thinking that since my blackberry allowed for syncing both directions, the iPhone would also.

My friend bought an iphone a weeks ago and had appstore issues.
he took it in to the apple store (genius bar or whatever they call it) and they fixed whatever setting was wrong.

The Contacts option is set to sync with Outlook. Outlook was empty because I had to re-install MS Office because my laptop crashed and I lost everything. I was thinking that the iPhone may work the same as my old blackberry and sync in both directions, but I guess not. I had to reinstall blackberry software and sync Outlook Contacts with my blackberry and then sync my iPhone with Outlook Contacts. Pain in the arse!!!

Gotcha.

I seem to have bidirectional syncing against Windows Address Book, but there are definitely quirks in all of the sync interactions. My calendar wasn't working until 2.02.

another thing I have noticed is that I don't receive emails when I am away from my computer (ie. lunch or after hours). FYI, I leave my computer on 24/7. Anybody have this issue?
