Saw this last night.

This is an interesting movie, based on a play. The lead performances are very strong, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Meryl Streep really deliver.

The story will be appealing to some viewers and not to others. I thought that there was some great material there, and it stoked conversation between my wife and I for quite awhile after seeing the movie.

I probably give this one a B+. The acting is very good and the plot is likely to create discussion, but I think that the characters themselves are somehow lacking sufficient depth for me to grade it higher. Still, I liked the movie a lot.

MINOR SPOILER (shouldn't really give anything away)---

The story is ambiguous, and ends that way, too. You don't really know what happened, but the plot gives the viewer plenty of context clues with which to theorize. I like this sort of thing, so I liked the movie. Some people will absolutely hate it for the same reason.

i really loved this movie. the acting is phenomenal. the scenes where it's just Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Glen Close in a room are unbelievable tense. Really good stuff.

The other reason i liked it so much was one of your reasons above. The wife and I saw it, and went to have drinks afterward, and all we could do was talk about this movie and our thoughts on differents aspects of it. I think that's a sign of a good movie, when you want to discuss it afterwards. Was kind of funny sitting in a bar discussing the movie so thoroughly, like we were in a silly book club or something.
