kendall thompson may not be our next great buck linebacker. ghost of big roy over on burnt orange nation has a couple of fine write-ups from his coverage of the 7-on-7 tournament. he brings back glowing accounts of david ash and jaxson shipley, but also a glowing and surprising account of kendall's play.
gobr believes kendall's play was so strong at traditional linebacker ('showed the ability to range sideline to sideline and the speed to track down running backs out of the backfield'), particularly in coverage (as witnessed by numerous interceptions, one of which he returned for a score), that, while he has the size to play the buck position, he may remain at pure linebacker instead.
nice to have that option, huh?
what gobr is saying about all three horn commits dovetails nicely with what i read from numerous observers at the event. you need to read what he has to say.
here's also his main article on the event.
