don't look at the 'Injury at Tennessee' thread

I just posted three reports in the original thread. Besides that heads-up, this post also moves BigWill's warning back on top of the other.

...& thanks for the links on the other thread. That pic just looked surreal to me, like when my kids torture a play doll or something.

Hope he recovers!

fyi, due to the gynormous size of the very graphic picture, that had no real sufficient warning, I deleted it. It can be reposted when resized and properly described before people see it. I'm leaving this up as a second warning to people when it is reposted, just in case.

So who or what was it? I googled all sorts of news items and images and came up with nothing.
Please tell me it's not a former Horn...

it was a fullback at the univ of tennessee at practice maybe? he was suited up in dayglo orange and his lower leg was going the wrong direction at the knee.

I hope he recovers quickly and well.

From the photo and the description, it sounds like a knee dislocation. If so, returning to competitive NCAA football is against the odds, and almost certainly out of the question for this year. The greatest danger is an associated popliteal artery injury, which can lead to loss of the leg.

I do not have a picture (thank God) of my football injury in high school but it was similar with the exception of mine was a lateral injury and my left foot ended up sitting directly next to my left hip. The joint was completely dislocated which resulted in complete tears of the PCL, ACL, LCL, Hamstring tendon, an almost complete tear of the Iliotibial band (spelling not sure), a collapsed patella tendon and crushed exterior meniscus.

By far this is the most pain I have ever been in and it sent searing pain from my lower back to my foot for several hours. Doctors thought I would never run again but I was able to return to basketball... football was over. Sadly, this will almost assuredly be the case for this guy. It is very hard to get over... I can tell you that much.

Prayers bro. Work hard and with the right attitude life is still all good!!!

Without blood and bone sticking out, it doesn't look so bad...

When I was playing WR in high school, I was on a downfield block for a reverse by the slot. I get in front of the db, and the slot cuts behind me (i don't see it, because i'm setting up to block). The DB cuts with the runner, but isn't going to make it so he sticks his leg out to trip the runner. Right in front of my face, the runner steps THROUGH the DBs lower leg - SNAP - blood and bone right there in front of me... I signaled to the opposing teams sideline - come get him now.... the play went for a TD. the dude was in shock when his trainer got there... "do you want me to move it?"

dude, you can't move it.

looks pretty bad (my wife's a physical therapist and she felt sick looking at it) but...the theisman injury (after getting hit by Lawrence Taylor) was far grosser. Particularly since Monday night football showed it over and over again, just in case the audience wasn't sufficiently sick.

Anybody remember the San Jose St. player who suffered a serious injury on a kick return against UTEP a few years back.
That may have been the sickest ive seen. He developed a severe infection and had to amputate his leg.
