Donating used funiture..

So, I just bought a house, and decided to buy all new furniture instead of moving the old stuff.

I would like to donate my used stuff (only a few years old, and in pretty good shape) instead of going through the hassle of trying to sell it.

Anyone ever done this before? I currently live in North Dallas area, if that helps.

Any suggestions or recommendations are helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Think of a cause that is important to you. Maybe a battered woman's shelter or a homeless shelter like the Salvation Army.

I know the Salvation Army will come by and pick up the furniture and sell it to help their cause.

But sometimes something more personal or important to you can benefit. Very kind of you and I hope the people who benefit from it appreciate it. You deserve the warm fuzzies today.

Just call the Salvation Army or Goodwill and see which one will come pick it up. Make sure you get a receipt for tax purposes.

Yeah, it looks like it will be the Salvation Army.

I was not able to reach them over the weekend. Does anyone know how long it will take them to pick the stuff up? I need it picked up by the end of the week at the latest.

In Austin I think it is a day or two at the most. I have donated a few things to include a piano, furniture and clothing. Each time the pick up was quick.

FYI-

They are picking up the stuff on Friday morning, which is absolutely perfect for me.

Horrayy for the Salvation Army!

For funsies you should dress up like Santa and ring a bell on your front porch. Maybe not.

I would donate it to St. Vincent De Paul or The Salvation Army - I know those two organizations truly help the needy. Both are in the phone book.
