I can't remember a more dominating performance against such a high quality opponent in quite some time. Starting and relief pitching, power and clutch hitting, great defense. Stanford was never in the series and when they got close, our boys beat them back into submission. This is more like a number 1 ranked team should play and gives me great hope for the future.

That was a great weekend, but I think I will wait a while to determine the quality of both teams. It is still February.

Good point. One only has to remember the No. 1 men's basketball program and where they are today. It is far too early to gloat.

No reason to gloat but it is great to see Texas playing like Texas. What a difference a week makes.

Agreed. I base all of this on Stanford's sweep of Rice last weekend and their tradition. We're 4-2 the past two weekends against two really good teams. Let's see how next weekend goes.

Is New Mexico good? Or did Texas just play poorly?

The reason I ask is cause USC plays New Mexico this upcoming weekend. My Trojans SUCK like usual. We just got swept in some tournament.

NMex is solid. They lead the NCAA in team batting average in 2009. As of 28 Feb, they were 10-2. They do not beat themselves. The intangible is they are "hungry" for recognition and play all of the top programs.

you were spot on re: New Mexico. Not that beating my sorry Trojans is any great feat but NM plays solid baseball. Great fundamentals, they don't beat themselves, just like you said. Timely hitting too.
