Dolphins Release Zach Thomas

I'm not sure how much of a concern age is. He has never been very athletic - he ran a 4.86 forty as a rookie - he's always relied more on instinct and intelligence. The concussion/migraine issue is a bigger concern. I wouldn't be surprised if he retired.

Zach has stated that he's healthy and could of played this year if the Dolphins hadnt placed him on IR. He says he'll definetly play next year. Zach is still young compared to the LB corps the Patriots have. I think the biggest thing is his work ethic and team player attitude that Belichick would love about this guy. It'd be nice to see him with Welker and Sammy Morris and his old buddy Larry Izzo, I think that would be a dream situation for Zach.

Man I remember watching Zach play in high school when he was at Pampa High. He played fullback and linebacker and he was a real beast ! I though he had a chance to play college ball but the though of him being a hall of famer never entered my mind. He had the attitude and work ethic that can't be measured or timed. He is also a hell of a nice guy who does good things off the field as well. He built a really nice gym up in Amarillo called Zach's that his brother Bart manages. I wish him well in what ever he decides to do.

I coached Zack on a youth football all-star team when he lived in White Deer. He was a 6th grader then. He wasn't nearly as big or as fast as some of our players from Borger but his instincts and tenaciousness was amazing. He was the MVP of the all-star tourney.

As a freshman he was the starting MLB on White Deer's class A state championship team. Brother Bart was the QB.

Always underestimated, always overachieving.

If Zach Thomas makes the Hall of Fame, then just shut the building down.

No Chuck Howley, Lee Roy Jordan, Derrick Thomas, but Zach Thomas? No way.

Guy taught me how to funnel a beer from a bottle at a wedding in Wichita Falls for one of his old teammates.
great guy and left it all on the field every game he played.

On the contrary, I think Zach is almost a shoe-in for the Hall. Im sure he'll try to find a new home with a super bowl contender, if he gets a ring or two, he'll be a shoe-in to get in.

The Cowboys are interested in Thomas, he is supposed to meet with them after the NFL Combine. The Link

I am not sure if Thomas is a HOF. He has great numbers, but tackle numbers don't always tell the story. Hell, Baylor's linebackers have had huge tackle numbers in the past few years and yet you don't see them being touted for AA.

The criteria I have heard from different writers that vote for HOF is that you need to be a dominant player at your position during your time in the NFL. Has Thomas been more dominant than say Ray Lewis or Brian Urlacher?

Other thing he will need is a voter in that room willing to push his candidacy. No better example than the job John McClain did for Elvin Bethea.

Like I said, if Zach makes the HoF, close it down.

If there's a Hall of Very Good, Zach goes in. But not the Hall of Fame. Line him up with the other LBs in there already, and it should be clear that Zach is not in their league.

Nice player, but not a dominant force.

I had seen this thread title dozens of times but for some reason, when I read it this time, the image came to mind of a group of gangster or revolutionary sea living mammal dolphins releasing Zach Thomas who had been held hostage. Perhaps ransom had been paid or maybe the US Navy had bowed to demands and agreed to stop sonar testing.
