Dogus Balbay

I think we are going to be in good hands next year at the guard spot in this young man. He won't miss but what, one, two games and they will be the early ones which are not usually that tough.

I like what I read about him and he is said to be fast as hell and tough as nails. Not a guy to shy away from contact or tight spots. Ha, somebody I know called him a tweener of Manu Ginobli and Tony Parker. Shoot, I'll take that.

It will suck not having the J's, AJ and DJ (if they go but I think they do) but luckily we get Balbay on the court quickly. We have some good size too, young size.

I am stoked.

loop- While I appreciate your optimism, if your scenario plays out, we are going to be super thin at the guard spot.

Let's just say DJ/AJ are gone. That leaves Dogus, who has never played a college game and Justin Mason in our back court, with Damion at the three. Who is coming off the bench??

Remember, J'Covan Brown is still a question at this point as far as qualfying goes so we could have zero depth at the guard spot.

The front court should be vastly improved with Matt Hill getting healthy and the continued improvement of Dexter, Connor, Lexi, Chapman and Gary Johnson.

We could be showing a lineup next year that resembles an NBA team as far as size goes. It will definitely look and play much different than the team we saw this season.

if an NBA team uses a draft pick on AJ this year they are foolish

I've heard great things about Balbay. He's the type of PG we haven't had in a while

I thought Dogus was required to sit the first 10 or 11 games of 08?? But yeah, I can't wait to see him play based on what I've heard of his game.

Loop, I don't get it, why are you assuming the NCAA will grant his request to count last season's games towards his suspension? Did I miss something?

They took his red shirt off last year and he served most of his suspension this past season. i wonder how much of this Rick saw with aj and dj maybe not being here. But I am pretty sure he has one, maybe two games left to serve from when they lifted his red shirt and made him active to play last year.

You can go look at Texassports and see they don't even have him listed as a RS any longer.

I know that is the way Texas wants to play it, but they had to petition the NCAA to agree with that proposal. I haven't heard anything about the NCAA saying yes or no yet.

Don't forget about Smith as a back up. I know he hasn't played much but he can give some minutes. We are also recruiting the guy that decomitted from Cinci. He sounds like physically he can step in quickly and provide some minutes.

Barnes is really unlucky in that it always seems like we have youth in the back court or the front court due to early departures. The only year we really had experience throughout the roster we made the FF.

It's also the same NCAA that suspended Mike Williams just for being suspected of wrongdoing even though they later proved he was clear, and that suspended Billy Pittman for borrowing a friend's car.

Those 4 others dont equal one DJ.

I don't think AJ comes back. I hope he does but I won't be shocked to see him head over the pond if need be.

J'Covan Brown has not fully qualified yet according to the AAS. He took the SAT this past Saturday and still needs to get some core work done.

Mizzou, I hope I am wrong too. I want him to stay as everybody else does. I won't be shocked if I am disappointed.

If Brown doesnt qualify, we are in big trouble, especially if AJ doesnt return. We need this Ebanks kid to sign in the worst way. Barnes and Co. need to inform him that he will have significant playing time and most likely even start on day one. I still think that DJ will be a high draft pick, but that AJ wont get drafted at all.
