the real reason to never dogpile before winning it all

UCLA starter Rahmatulla will miss CWS
12:12 p.m.: UCLA will be without starter Tyler Rahmatulla for the College World Series after the sophomore second baseman broke his wrist in the celebration after Sunday’s win over Cal State Fullerton.
Coach John Savage said Rahmatulla sustained the injury in the dogpile following the 8-1 victory that clinched UCLA’s first trip to Omaha since 1997.
“I was crushed to hear the news, and Tyler is pretty emotional right now,’’ Savage said. “It’s something we’re going to have to deal with. One of our strengths is our depth but he’s a guy who’s played in 61 of our 62 games and been in that third hole all season.
“I feel for Tyler. This is just one of those unfortunate things.’’
Rahmatulla hit .328 with seven homers and 45 RBIs. Savage said the Bruins have a number of options in trying to replace him at second
UCLA will face Florida in its opening game Saturday night at 6 p.m.
