they are now 15-7 and 4-4 in the Big 12...

the upcoming schedule is:
OSU - Should W
@CU - W
@A&M - Could be a L
OU - Probably a L
TTU- W
@OSU - could go either way
Baylor - W
@KU - L

so we could finish out 4-4 in the Big 12 and finish with a 19-11 (8-8) record...now im hoping they figure things out and do much better than 4-4 to close, but who really thinks they will...

so does a 19-11 team that is 8-8 in conf. play get in?

At this rate, NO.

I see it this way:
L
L
L
L
W
L
L
L

That's 16-14, 5-11.

There's no way were getting in with that resume. Season = Over.

Bye, see you next season. c'mon, a loss like this and the last two are heart breaking and gut wrenching but it says a lot about a person or the caliber of fan to display this type of attitude. Perhaps the team is better off with people exposing themselves and their ability to support a team.

Maybe you are just venting and had a bad week, who knows. But this team deserves more ESPECIALLY now. I won't give up on them or their season no matter what, as much as it pains me to watch what is going on.

The guys are upset about all of this too, very much so. It is in their actions and words on campus. This is getting mental, perhaps, and this is a tougher challenge for Rick and Co. Do you be hardasses or do you relent a bit and try other strategies? This is why he gets the big bucks.

One win the rest of the way?

Sorry loop, but what have you seen that makes you think we can beat half of those teams left. We can't beat Nebraska, KState at home and Mizzou at home.

im not giving up on anything...i will cheer this team on no matter what happens...im just asking a honest question...i hope this team goes 8-0 the rest of the way, but honestly...i dont think they will...

I have seen teams pull out of slumps before and I have seen teams spiral down the toilet. There is a decent amount of basketball left and I choose to be optimistic and generate optimism as opposed to letting the actions of young men in a sport dictate a foul attitude and ranting, sad posts on the internet.

And if this team does not win another game I will still support this team, players and coaches without calling them names or using expletives to describe them. They deserve more respect than that.

I will not be happy with the outcome if that is what it is. I will also not be proud of what they did and want some serious questions asked, answered and addressed. But sorry, for now I will be perplexed and baffled by what is going on but not being actually on the team or staff, wait and see what, if anything gets done.

I did not stay at a Holiday Inn and I am not a basketball coach. I watch games from the stands and in front of a tv. I played in HS and in various pick up games across the nation. That is the extent of my resume. It is less than some here, more than most others. So who knows. I hope for the best and will cheer the rest of the way.

Unless we lose out, there's no way we're NIT bound. Our RPI and SOS is too good to be left out. You can thank Rick Barnes and his loaded non-conference schedule for saving us this year, because without it, we would be a definite bubble team.

Did this team really beat Villanova at MSG?

Shhh. Don't you know? We are horrible and pathetic. We cannot and will not win another game ever. This may creep over into the Spring Jamboree in football and our team will manage to lose that game too.

We stink and are maybe the worst team ever to lace up sneakers. Get on board, drink and rant a whole bunch in a rage of anger and compulsion.

It's not exactly the end of the world, but I've settled with reality that even a Sweet 16 birth would be considered a total overachievement at this point.

Good news is there's light at the end of the tunnel. Bad news is the light (in the form of Lucas, Hamilton, Bradley, Williams, and even Wangmene) won't be shining here till next season.

I can't let myself think that far ahead to grandeur. Sweet Sixteen would be amazing at this point. Getting out of the first round would be elating. It is sad that if we have a big lead in a game I cannot feel sure we will still win the game. I don't think that will change even if they turn things around being gun shy. I hope they figure things out.

DJDJAJGJ, Texas needs to have at barest minimum a 9-7 record in the watered down Big 12 conference to make the NCAA tournament. While I agree that we have a good resume of the bubble teams at this juncture, to say we have to lose out to miss the tournament is simply uneducated blather. Texas needs to go 5-3 down the stretch which I think is possible, but unlikely at present given we have two rather sure losses in OU at home and KU on the road to end it. I think this Texas team is NIT bound. Barnes did a crap job with this team, no two ways about it. Barnes failed either in assembly it, or coaching it. Every team has a down year, this is our's.

The team needs fan support now more than ever. Their confidence is shot. They don't have a real leader on the team or a special player who can take over when needed. They seem to be looking around for someone who just isn't there. I hope they get it together and make it to the tourney. This team had too much promise at the beginning of the season to not even make it.

This team does not have a decent true point guard and without that it is going to be difficult to win with their remaining schedule. Is this team terrible? No. I do not think teams that finish .500 in their conference deserve to go to the tournament. I do not think 6 win football teams should be invited to bowls either.

Way I see the rest of your sked is this...

OSU home - W
@ CU - Definite W. That's the worst team in the conference. They try hard but they're just not any good.
@ A&M - I call W. You're overestimating how good A&M is. Sure it's a rivalry game, but I just don't think A&M's any good. Sure they almost beat OU in Norman, but hey so did CU and they suck.
OU - Yep, that's an L. OU's too good this year.
TTU - Win, that team's horrible. NU scored 84 against them IN LUBBOCK and as you saw today we barely get out of the 50s and 60s.
@ OSU - Tossup. GIA's a tough venue, plus OSU's a pretty athletic team.
Baylor - I call W. You already beat them on the road, and I think you'll win the return game at home.
@ Kansas - Yep. That's an L. Phog's a tough place to win.

So, 10-6, maybe 9-7 if a loss at the GIA.

Hell, I don't like the 3 straight losses, but this team will finish out fine. I don't think they'll be any higher right now than a 7 seed and will go 2 and through. The horns BB teams have surprised me in the past and may do it again with a strong run.

Tis team is not good! Even if they do make the dance, they will be one and done.

The lack of a point guard kills this offense. Abrams is cold & rushing his shot.

Our defense when it counts & the game is on the line is poor. Guys just don't move their feet well on the defensive end.

It hurts to watch this team flounder, but that's what I will do.

Hook'em!

We lost to Nebraska. In Basketball. OK? That's not a good team. They don't have a point guard and they are poor shooters. Not a good combo. To win a game they must rely on defense but that only keeps them in the game. They are losing games in the last 5 minutes because there is no one who can make shots. This team is finished. No NCAA for this bunch.

You people are ridiculous. Yeah, we've lost 3 in a row -- and they were close. We'll win some close games, too. This team will absolutely make the NCAAs, bet on it. (They'll probably lose in the first weekend, too.)

If we finish Big-12 play with a losing record, I would say absolutely not.

Of course, the bigger question is: why would it matter? This team wouldn't win a game in the NCAA tournament the way they're playing right now.

I sure hope they make it, but at this point it is far from a given. It's been quite a while since the team hasn't gone to the dance and it would be a shame to see that streak end. Even if they are one and done this year, that consecutive appearance streak continues with better days to come with our incoming recruiting class.

Husker (good win today, BTW) - Your review of our remaining schedule is very generous. We just lost to K State and Mizzou at home and Nebraska on the road. How is OSU at home considered a W? I see a 4th loss in a row to OSU and then a lucky break from the losing with a W against Colorado. The only other game that is a for-sure W on the schedule is Tech at home and maybe (MAYBE) Baylor at home. The rest I would put in the more likely to lose category.

If we go 8-8 in conference and win one in the conference tournament (which we should playing as the 5th seed against Colorado or 6th seed against Iowa State) then we are in based on reputation. 9-7 and we get in for sure. 7-9 and we are in deep trouble. The OSU game at home this week appears to be a very important swing game. it is a game that we could very well lose and I cannot see how this team, in its current state of disarray, can beat OSU right now.

Is Texas the only team losing? Nope. Do many Horn fans see Texas in a vacuum? Yep. They're not the only team losing, fellas. Even an 8-8 Big XII mark should be ok for UT, especially considering the wins over UCLA and Villanova. But there's no question Texas is a bubble team now. They're easily on the good side of the bubble, but with an RPI around 40 they can ill afford a couple of more bad losses.

Texas's RPI isn't just around 40, it's well on the high side of 40. Realtimerpi.com has it at 44 right now. If Texas finishes 8-8 in the Big 12, it will be in no better than a tie for fifth place in a somewhat down conference. Rpi will probably be 50 or over.

Sorry, that looks like a bursted bubble to me.

I'm predicting a convincing win against OSU that leaves us wondering where this team has been the last 3 games. I think we'll finish out with a few surprising wins, be one-and-done in the B12 tourney and lose in the opeining weekend of the NCAAs...probably going down in our opening game.

This team was not as good as we thought in the beginning of the season, and they're not as bad as we think they are now.

However, their heads are spinning now and they look lost. Unless Barnes can figure out how to right the ship, a trip to NCAA tourny is unlikely.
