I think it's perception.

I remember this one party in college, where I was completely baked. We were talking politics, and I was quite impressed with myself. I couldn't believe I was saying such insightful, intelligent things.

Then I woke up the next morning, and remembered some of what I had said. None of it made any sense at all.

I think it's perception, because as has already been stated you wake up the next day feeling like an idiot for what you said. I always wonder if my friends remember the crap I spew. If I smoked that is.....because I don't.

Just like most drunks think they are either funny or tough.....when they are neither.

Sometimes being drunk helps you be funny.

On Inauguration Day a friend asked another friend, who was well drunk, if he had voted for Obama. The drunkard swivelled on his stool, looked indignant, and bellowed in a very condemning tone 'I can drink how ever much I like and it doesn't effect me.'

I laughed very hard.

Pot smokers are neither made smarter, cooler, more creative, nor sexier by their abuse of the weed. Still, as another friend is quite fond of saying when so stoned that his eyes will not open, 'Stop blaming the weed!'

This is a great thread. When I was in high school we had a once a month ritual called the "great American smoke out" The best and brightest in one of the largest HS in Texas would conviene in a 40 dollar a night motel room and get blasted on a couple of ounces of premium weed and watch the sun rise. I'm, talking almost complete inclusion of the top 15 students in the school. These kids went on to be doctors, lawyers, professors and captains of industry.


One night we got so trashed that we thought our conversations were of such importance that we should capture them on tape so that that the Reagan administration could benefit from our brilliance. My buddy risked arrest and parental scrutiny to go home and get his dads shoulder mounted VHS camera in order to document the great event. We were sure this was the greatest meeting of minds in the last 50 years.

If I could do anything differently in my youth it would have been to save that tape. After the perps and I viewed that thing at least a half a dozen times we couldn’t discern a lick of sense out of it.
It was so embarrassing that I was peeling guys (and girls) off of the VCR who were determined to destroy the evidence. A month later, I threw the tape in a storm gutter to assuage the guilt of the participants.

I don’t think we solved any of the world’s problems during those sessions, but there’s no doubt we had a blast. I missed the last class reunion, but I was told the participants of the smoke out ditched their normal cliques to hang out together.

Maybe smoking does make you think and say really brilliant or hilarious things, but it takes someone else being high to comprehend it.

Maybe getting stoned and thinking beyond the bounds of reason is a good exercice in realizing what rational thinking is really all about?
