Does Gray help us land a premier offensive lineman

Does he?

The NC2A is so ******* squirrely that it may be against the rules, but I'd think Mr Gray might help by contacting prospective OL and Talking Texas to them.

We can sure enough hope so.

It couldn't hurt, could it?

No Westermans, please.

Patience is all that's needed with Estelle...he's going to wind up being UT's franchise tackle for three or four years, and my purely uneducated guess is he commits in weeks, rather than months, to the good guys.

How were the Westerman's less than stand up? They did not string our coaches along. They were actually quite patient in the mixed up process that became our coaching situation. Being out of state and further from the fold they said what they were feeling. They gave us a chance, we did not hire either fast enough or who they felt they wanted their kid to travel out of state to play with/for. It's not like they flat out lied ala M. Bennett or Periloux.

I think they were quite patient and hold nothing against them. Sure, there may be a couple of things they could have done differently and I think most of it was the father but still, compared to others in the past I think they are not deserving our angst. Then again, I am a sunshine guy.

more than gray, i think connor brewer has the potential to land you an national top tier offensive lineman.

the relationships that he's developed at national camps will work in your favor.

Screw Westerman and his family. I hear it is working out quite nicely at Auburn for him and his family though.

We get who we want more often than not. JG mentioned in his interview that he will now actively be working to recruit those who we would want to join this bad *** class as well. So this would include Estelle.

Be patient grasshopper.

I think Brown and Gray help. But the addition of Searles is really what is going to be the edge in the recruiting department.

To say it's working out nicely for the Westermans, does that mean he enrolled early and after spring training is already looking at early playing time, or the 1st check has already been cashed ?

I'm with Loop on this one. The only dissapointment I had was with his final decision. I didn't see anything in his behaviour that deserves our wrath. If anything, he gave us a fairer shake than we deserved with all the crap going on.

I hope so. The thing that really needs to happen is the coaches need to be able to spot talent and develop players better.

Loop nailed it. I don't like it either, but I respect Westerman going elsewhere under the cirmcumstances he had to make a decision from. Move on... we will be fine without him

Westerman gave us the courtesy of waiting to see who our o line coach and OC was before jumping on another bandwagon.

This one's on Mack Brown in more than one way.
It was a small miracle we didn't lose more having crapped ourselves like we did.

But its time to move on and backfill that o line with some stud hosses.

Mack showed some real vision by not caving into what a highly touted recruit wanted and he went after the best coach he could find for what Texas OL needs.....a coach to get in their grill and toughen 'em up.

I don't find it a mature decision for a recruit to pick a school primarily because of a position coach. Would Westerman have been devastated if this had happened a year later and his coach left. Grimes may leave Aub for the NFL next yr. Childish behavior. Probably better that he left. Sounds to me like he picks schools on current W/L record. Oregon & Auburn replaced Texas on his favorites. My money says if Texas went to the mnc game last yr and then McWhorter left, he would have never swayed.

tholly has it right.

Did we ever decide if he was subject to the curse, or if all of the changes exempted him?

In the broadcast of the Spring game comments were made about guys sticking with their blocks better, so maybe Searles is doing some good. Maybe he'll get us a 5 * lineman or 2. I want an epic o line. I want Texas to be THE place for top o linemen to come.
