since married people share everything (usually) from the home, bank account, personal property and all else....what about the last bastion of privacy - the email account?

you are there when the friends call and you listen in, you open each others regular postal mail...

but what about hotmail, yahoo, gmail?

Yes, we generally use the same password for everything. My wife also has her email forwarded to our home PC which is protected only by the user password which we share.

I am not married but giving my gf/wife my email password is never going to happen. I have too much fun playing on email to give that luxury up. And I'm not talking about pron...

Even if you have their Email password, this doesn't mean you have the PW or even the ID of their "secret" Y! or Gmail account.

...Not that I have one or anything (wink, wink... nudge, nudge).

I'm really big on privacy. The only time that she's been in my e-mail and vice-versa is when one of us needs something specific. Like last month I had her forward me a paper I had written via my e-mail.

It's not even so much of a trust issue. I really don't want to read her e-mails which are nothing but recipe sharing and pictures of other people's kids.

I know her pw, she knows mine. I have nothing to hide, I trust her and don't look at her email. Trust is a good thing.

Jerry: So why didn't you tell her the code?
George: No. No way.
Jerry: George, you're gonna marry this woman. Most likely.
George: It says very clearly, 'for your protection, do not give your secret code to anyone.'
Jerry: So you're taking relationship advice from Chemical Bank now?
George: Why does everything have to be 'us'? Is there no 'me' left? Why can't there be some things just for me? Is that so selfish?
Jerry: Actually, that's the definition of selfish.

yeah. i know hers and she knows mine. helps when we need to look stuff up that's on our email accounts and one of us isn't at a computer.

I don't know my wife's and she doesn't know mine. You have to be able to have some privacy. Do you tell her everything you think, and vice versa?

Yes and yes, though losthubby never remembers mine. Neither of us keep up with the other's work e-mail passwords though since those change every six weeks or so. Nothing really to hide, so no real need to snoop.

If your kids have their own e-mail do you require them to make their passwords known to you? We did, until they left for school, and you would have thought we were the world's worst parents for it!

As long as we paid the bills and they were under 18, we should have access, it did not mean we would snoop and really never had a reason to snoop, Thank God!

i think most parents would be shocked if they knew what their kids were up to on IM every night...to the topic at hand, im not married but have had girlfriends that i trusted and didnt want to know their email info.
