Do we want Tennessee to win tonight?

Was just giving it some thought. I know that with every win they have it makes our win against them look that much better, but in the grand scheme of things there are only 4 No. 1 seeds and right now we're in the No. 5 position.

Every loss by every team viewed ahead of Texas is helpful.

Every loss by every team viewed just below Texas is helpful in case Texas loses another game as well.

What I really want to see is another loss from Memphis. Two would be especially helpful, although unlikely.

Actually, I think you will find most people are split on UT/UCLA getting the last #1, with more people tending to favor UT at this point.

Kosher's right. At this point, we control our #1 seed if we want it. It's not like we're 12th and trying to move up. We're already, hypothetically, at the top. We don't need strength of schedule anymore. Assuming we win out and not lose in the first game of the Big 12 Tourney, we're set. As mentioned before, UNC and Duke play each other twice, so, realistically, one of them is out. That leaves UT, UT, Memphis and an ACC team.
So, go Vandy.

I was kind of hoping for an early exit out of the conference tournament to knock us down to a #2 in Houston with a rested team.

But you all are right, losing doesn't guarantee us going to Houston...so I'll just watch.

I think I will be rooting for the other possible #1 seeds to lose. However, I am rooting for UCLA - I don't want to be the #1 in Phoenix against them.

Guys, rankings dont matter for ****, nor do they make a ****. The tourney selection spokesman says this every year. They go off SOS, quality wins (they take into account whether they were at home or on the road) and who the losses were against ( and whether they were at home or on the road). Tell me, when you take these into consideration, who has a much better resume than us?

We beat #1 Tenn on a nuetral court by 19

We beat then #1 UCLA on their home court

We beat #6 KU

We beat #23 St marys

Also, all the wins we had VS Big 12 teams who are on the fringe of the Top 25 at home and away.

Our losses:

At Mich St (top 10 team)

At Aggy

Home to Wiscy (that hurts, but they are a top 10 team)

At Mizzou (that hurts most)

I think the only way we end up in Houston is to win out and finish as a strong enough #1 seed to merit our choice of regional.

Which #1 seed is the committee going to punish by sending a #2 Texas to Houston for a virtual home-court advantage?

I am going to pull for Vandy just because I want to and I don't really care about the ramifications to us.

If we take care of business we will be a 1 or a 2 seed and I am fine either way.
